Action for Children Blog
Young people had a fabulous day at the Festival of Touch, held at Richmond Athletic Ground on 29th October, taking part in training, meeting with professionals from the world of Rugby and relaxing in the Dell Technology Suite.
Inspire IT are proud to have played a large part at the festival, representing Action for Children and showcasing the cutting age Dell technology which will be installed in Action for Children services, for the benefit of our children and young people.
Dell is partnering with Action for Children, HITZ Rugby, Beyond Sport and England Touch to launch its inaugural Dell Festival of Touch Rugby. Using touch rugby as a mechanism to increase young peoples’ resilience, self-reliance and confidence, the event will offer an environment for underserved young people to receive coaching and mentoring from well-known rugby players, such as Maggie Alphonsi, England women’s rugby player and flanker for Saracens W.R.F.C., and hear how they can apply skills learned on the field in the real world.
The Inspire IT team has been busy exploring ways to develop our digital curriculum and give young people we work with the best opportunities to develop their IT skills and fulfil their potential through technology. Our consultation was designed to collect the views of young people and services in a number of ways, to allow for maximum engagement.
So, what did we get up to?
We built this website! This website is our ‘learning portal’ and has been designed to give young people access to a range of resources for life learning and skills development. We have a blog (you’re reading it right now!) and in the future we hope that young people will contribute to it by telling us what they have been up to, how they have been using the Dell technology in their service and recommending apps and hacks for other young people to try out. We have created the home page around themes identified as being most relevant to Action for Children service users. For example, we have parenting support links, CV templates and budgeting tools.
Please fill in this very short survey about your IT use. All Action for Children service users up to the age of 23 are invited to complete the survey and will receive a £5 Love2Shop Gift Card.
Everyone who completes this first survey will be invited to complete a second survey in the future, and receive another reward – a £10 Gift Card!
